a truth for the world

Kyndra and I had a great conversation tonight about societal pressures. We all have some sense of how our desires seem like they can grab on and hold us - hold us down, I think. We've got to find ways to keep ESSENTIALS before us. Take this quote for instance:

"Money often costs too much."

two voices in harmony

Came across a cool review of a morning discussion that Zondervan put on with Brian McLaren and Rob Bell. These are two great authors, thinkers, and pastors and the review of the morning is nicely put together.
Being a pastor, I enjoyed this account of something McLaren shared:

I think Dallas Willard and Richard Foster have done an incredible job of bringing back to our attention that “converts and disciples are not the same thing.” Making disciples is not accidental but the main focus of our work. Maybe it’s time to ask your board of elders, “How can my job be adjusted in the next several years so that my primary job is to model Jesus Christ instead of lead a religious organization?”

good stuff -
